the X-Club By: Anna Zaires (Stefani's Review)

Summary:

Amy Myers is tired of writing fluff. She wants to work on serious assignments—and what better way to prove herself than to uncover something new about the mysterious Krinar, the aliens who took over the Earth just two years earlier? But when she meets Vair, the dark and sexy owner of a Manhattan x-club, she may get more than she bargained for...

The X-Club is a novelette/short story of approximately 10,000 words (56 print pages), set in the world of the Krinar Chronicles about three years before Mia & Korum’s trilogy. It’s an erotic story, not a romance. It can be read as a standalone or after the Krinar Chronicles trilogy.

My Review:

I loved this short story.  I was hoping to find out more about Vair and Amy, but was left wanting.  It was short and sweet? (Anna, these two could use more details *hint*hint*).  Anyway, I really liked the way that Anna Zaires wrote the characters.  I was in deep, and then it ended.  I thought, "Wait, there has to be more, right?"  It made me want to read more by her.  I felt that if she could get me hooked in just, what, 56 or so pages, that I must have more (que - The Krinar Chronicles) .  Since I think I have left the word 'more' in here enough to get my feelings across, I will bow out gracefully.

Oh, BTW.. Still waiting on Hold Me (Twist Me #3)... IJS...

Just As Good By Keshia Robertson (Stefani's Review)

Summary:

Evan Hermes traded in romance for pragmatism when he suggested marriage at their New Year's Eve party to his girlfriend Kitt Preston. It was a “suggestion” which wasn’t well received by the love of his life. Though it’s taken him most of the year to figure out the perfect proposal, this time romance is front and center to obtain a yes!

Kitt has been in love with Evan ever since he asked her out during their first year of college. Tall, handsome, and a family man, Evan is the kind of person that most women would be falling over themselves to marry…but not her. Kitt is only willing to say yes to a marriage proposal that is worthy of their love and years together.

Review:

This story was a good love story.  I love how Kitt has standards that she refuses to compromise no matter how much she is in love with Evan.  There are some nice hot and steamy scenes, but not too much.  A classy and sexy couple show that romance is not dead and love is as strong.  Nothing can tear these two apart.  I really enjoyed reading this story.  A nice quick read.

Obsession By Ivory Quinn (Stefani's Review)

Summary:

My soul was nothing but an ink stain of consequence.
You made me Canute, the foolish man,
Trying to turn back the rolling tide of your dark.
And I drowned.
I drowned.

Gabriel Hallow is a damaged man. Rock star, producer and public enemy number one, he sees his redemption in quiet, wholesome school teacher Noelle Winters. Crashing into her life like a wrecking ball, he smothers her innocence and leads her down the razor's edge between submissive and victim, opening her eyes to things she didn't even know could happen between a man and a woman. Overwhelmed by his generosity and charm, how far will she go to save his soul? And when is it too late to turn back?

My Review:

When I first began to read Obsession, I thought “Yep, another rich guy, falling for a mediocre girl.”  The more I read, however, the more I could see that was NOT the case.

The pages began to reveal a deep rooted issue that no one really could grasp. The depth of it wounded me, so much that I had to wait a while to actually write this review.  Gabriel is so scarred and needy I was hoping for a simple fix from Noelle.  But, I found that this life is not always we wish it to be, and (though thoroughly shocked) I appreciate the way that Ivory Quinn revealed this to us in this book.

Even seeming to have the perfect life, under control, we are all a bit lost at one point or another.  Gabriel’s reckless abandon for his feeling about Noelle will make you love him and wary of him in the same breath.  Noelle is the solid foundation that makes you think when you hit rock bottom there you will find her, but she is stronger than I gave her credit for.  I can’t say that my will would have been as strong as hers.

My theme song with this book would be: Tears Don’t Fall by Bullet For My Valentine

Unlovable By Cynthia St. Aubin (Stefani's Review)

Unlovable (The Case Files of Dr. Matilda Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist, #1)

Summary:

It isn’t every day a sexy demigod throws a pissed-off Cupid onto psychologist Matilda Schmidt’s couch and informs her the fate of the world depends on her ability to get him off his diapered ass and back to helping people fall in love.

Just when Matilda convinces herself she’s not hallucinating, in walks a Vegas hit man with a big gun and a bigger threat: pay back the million dollars she owes a notorious casino mogul, or wind up as fish food in Lake Mead.

Rocketing across country with a gun to her head, Matilda has a dysfunctional love-god in her laptop bag, a million dollar debt she has no knowledge of, and must convince the seductive hit man he’s snatched the wrong woman before he convinces her he might be the right man—for a night.

Can Matilda stay alive long enough to keep love from becoming history?

My Review:

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have to start by saying that when I first started reading, I was tempted to stop.  It seemed to start in the middle of a thought. The implied was there, but it could not catch my attention.  I kept reading hoping to understand more, but it went from confusing and dragging, to fast paced when the kidnapping happened.  From there the story was great! I was laughing, blushing, and frustrated all at the same time.  If it weren't for those first few sections (there were no clear chapters), I would have rated it better.

Includes volume 1-4 of Rebecca's Lost Journals

Brandi's Review:

Journals received free in exchange for an honest review.

After reading If I Were You and Being Me, I dove right into Rebecca's Lost Journals. I couldn't wait to see things from the point of view of our missing and partially leading lady. I was so engrossed in watching her evolve and change into a different person. My heart went out to her with all the conflict she felt and decisions she grew to realize she had to make within herself and her relationship with "Master". This was a perfect reading experience to understand what made the journals so important and learn more about Rebecca.

Summary:
You've discovered Rebecca's secrets. You've discovered Sara's secrets. Now Sara will discover "his" deepest, darkest secrets...but will those secrets bind them together--or tear them apart?

Brandi's Review:

I received a copy free in exchange for an honest review.

First off, if you haven't read If I Were You or Being Me, then go buy them NOW!!! This is the 3rd book in the Inside Out Series. We get to follow Sara and Chris in their journey immediately following where Being Me ended. We are introduced to a new side of Chris as they are in Paris for his work. It was a relief to see Chris as more steadfast than in the previous books, with Sara being in a new country and not able to speak the language. It was important to see that. We get to meet a whole new cast of characters and revelations of the past that keep coming. There is still new information being presented about the whole case with Rebecca, as well as new questions....like is she really dead? Does Mark know more than he is letting on? Ms. Jones keeps her memory alive with journal entries scattered through out, perfectly timed of course. I can't forget to mention Ella! Where is she? Why can't anyone seem to track her down? And why is Sara being followed because of all of this? Wonderfully written and full of steam and mystery, don't miss out on this great series!
